HANCA Advanced Cancer Support Group

This online peer support group is designed for family members, partners, friends and carers supporting someone living with advanced cancer.
Advanced cancer is cancer that has spread, returned after treatment, or can no longer be cured.
Incurable cancer is a term used when cancer cannot be cured, although treatments may still help control the disease, relieve symptoms, and improve quality of life.
Metastatic cancer is cancer that has spread from where it first started to another part of the body. Learn more.

Facilitated by the Head and Neck Cancer Helpline staff, sessions will include:

  • Opportunities to share experiences and mutual support

  • Short educational segments on coping strategies, communication challenges, and self-care

  • Discussion and connection with others who understand what you’re going through

  • Information about community and psychosocial resources

Each session will open with a talk by a Head and Neck Cancer clinician and will run for up to 90 minutes. The rest of the meeting will be devoted to participants questions and discussions about any concerns, what they struggle with, or what they would like to learn more about.

Meetings held via Zoom every eight weeks, Fridays at 12pm.
